The planet is suffering from anthropogenic actives. Our founder Ivonne Pena has a deep passion for environmental advocacy and the alternative energy resources. Our mission at One Blue Planet is to raise awareness about our own personal impact on the planet. One Blue Planet was founded in 2019, in Pittsburgh, PA, offering engineering consulting services on energy related topics: We focus on delivering decarbonization pathways for governments, sectors and companies. We bring together experts from different fields to deliver analyses of the highest standards. We rely on our vision, one in which we contribute to develop and commercialize better energy technologies in the U.S. and abroad. At One Blue Planet we want to give you the tools to reduce your carbon footprint and make a positive impact on the planet. We all have an impact, but it’s our job to mitigate it.

About Our Impact
Since the industrial revolution places around the globe have been burning fossil fuels for energy. Fossil fuels are the altered remains of plants and marine microorganisms that are removed from long term geological storage and deposited into the atmosphere. Fossil fuels are formed under extreme pressure and temperatures that create materials rich with hydrocarbon. These materials can be extracted and burned as oil, natural gas, and coal. High levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere has shifted the balance of the greenhouse effect warming temperatures at earths surface. Since the industrial revolution earth has warmed 1.1° Celsius altering the earth system.
The impacts are extensive the Greenland ice sheet is melting rapidly changing ocean currents, precipitation patterns are changing globally impacting agriculture, and forest fires are destroying ecosystems and homes. We are reaching a no-analog state: altering the earth system at a rate that has never been seen before. We need to make a change and we need to do it now. There is no planet B, we must do our part to protect the planet.
Decarbonization pathways
Pennsylvania annually produces 266.01 MMTCO2e, ranking nationally as the 4th largest contributor of GHG emissions. The United States produces 6,340.2 MMTCO2e annually. The average American produces 16 tonnes of CO2e annually.

Offset your carbon emissions
Want to lower your carbon footprint? By purchasing a carbon credit you are offsetting one tonne of CO2e from your carbon footprint.
-
Carbon sinks naturally sequester carbon dioxide through photosynthesis. OneBluePlanet supports Carbon Offset, LLC which sells carbon credits created from the restoration and preservation of wetlands.
-
Wetlands are effective carbon sinks that sequester carbon dioxide through sediment trapping and photosynthesis. Wetland reservation and preservation not only restores a carbon sink but a vibrant ecosystem home to 1/3 of endangered species. Wetlands are endangered ecosystems— in Pennsylvania alone 56% of historic wetlands have been covered and destroyed. By purchasing wetland carbon credits you are doing so much more than just reducing your carbon footprint.
